NIGERIAN ELECTIONS- Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom Parallels.
#NIGERIA- Bayelsa & Akwa Ibom Parallels.
The New Political ruling party in Nigeria, All Progressives Congress (APC), are trending on the same colors like the former ruling party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Nigerians saw the arrogance and recklessness of the PDP in the fifteen plus years of ruling Nigeria. PDP adopted a winner- takes- all mantra during their reign. In elections, PDP wanted to win all states at all cost. Apparently these politicians are deluded that a one-party state is all they need to be numero uno. Not so, never is and never will be.
Nigeria needs a virile, smart, effective opposition political party, for its democracy to be deepened and result oriented. It is foolhardy for any ruling party to think that it must win all thirty something states in Nigeria. If APC is a “CHANGE” political party why then adopt old ways that took Nigeria into depressive growth?
APC in Bayelsa State and Akwa Ibom states presented, tainted and problematic candidates for its gubernatorial elections. These candidates just few months ago were part of the ruling PDP, and also these two candidates, Timipre Sylva (Bayelsa) and Umana O. Umana (Akwa Ibom), were part of the ruling and running political structures of their states when PDP was in charge of those states. If APC was really a change, political party was there no “clean” and change candidate they could have presented to the people in these respective states?
The election results in Bayelsa State last weekend, is a clear indication that Nigerians are smart enough (may be now), to discern this political shenanigans. If Timi Sylva loses (which am sure he will), then APC must let go and allow the opposition be. It is good for Nigeria, win some lose some. If APC loses in Akwa Ibom (which they will), Let Go APC, and let Nigeria be.
The beauty of politics is that the Nigerian people will find its level somehow, some day. “Water no get enemy” (Fela Kuti).

#NIGERIA- CORRUPTION ACHILLES HEEL
Corruption is Stealing, corruption is harakiri, corruption is wicked, corruption is stupid. Corruption dwells in us. Forget about that other saying by my Niger Delta brother, that corruption is not "awoof', or corruption is not stealing. For a second forget about Dasuki and his band of marauding sharers. Let's do an underground spiritum analysis on why we Nigerians are wedding to this Ogbanje.
What makes a bailiff to shake you down in the Nigerian court to serve an otherwise simple court process that he has been paid(?) by the public to do. What makes a lawyer go to a magistrate's chambers and give him money just so that bail be granted his client. What makes a police man mount a legal road block, don't believe their IGP, when he screams that its illegal! If you do , you believe all things. What makes a collared priest and uncolared priest bamboozle gullible members of his congregation to give money for an otherwise charitable cause but uses the money to feed his fantasies? What makes a custom and excise officer to make clearing goods almost like attempting to have access to celestial beings in heaven?
We may scream how terrible Dasuki, the erstwhile National Security Adviser is, by his actions of sharing our commonwealth with his friends. But how did Dasuki single handedly pull these James Bondric stunts? Why should our political, moral, economic and legal system accept these practices which has become inherent part of our culture. Don't tell me other NSAs never did same or you and I have not benefitted from this corrupt culture. Yes! we must clean and make these systems running Nigeria work for us and serve us well. It has to be holistically done.
So the present government of Mohammadu Buhari, is right to go after those who are unlucky now because they are no more manning the gates. But until those people in the Buhari's government now who were part of the former government and also shared one way or another in illegally sharing our national "yam" are made accountable the world will think we are jokers. Most importantly until this government lead in total re-construct of the Nigerian systems, we will be dancing in circles on issues of corruption.
I would have suggested consulting psychologist, anthropologist, Balalawos and Men of God, but my problem is they may demand consultancy fees, which may require asking Dasuki's twin...But we can Change Nigeria. Lets Go there.

#NIGERIA #AKWAIBOM Series: THE DAYS OF THE DRAGON HERE AGAIN?
When few days ago I got information of "rumors" and grapevine chatter that thugs and political gladiators are about to unleash mayhem upon themselves in Akwa Ibom State, I thought it was the normal electioneering bolstering and machos.
Now, we have heard reports of alleged assassination in Ukanafun,Akwa Ibom State of a politician. The sad story is that he was allegedly murdered in his home, within the serenity of his people.
So we are back to those senseless murders, killings and domination within Akwa Ibom political space we witnessed back in those days. Soon both political parties would start making political cheap score on who is responsible and who is the devil. We are all responsible . Yes, We Akwa Ibom people, who did not demand punishment and accountability during the earlier dragon days.
When a group of people assume they have monopoly of violence and cow the rest of society to fear, timidity and voicelessness ,this is what we get.
My take is that this mess is not going to be solved by the Nigerian Police, nor the Security services. They never solved the initial dragon days. Now , is the time for ,Akwa Ibom to rise hope and hold these dungs of the earth accountable. Not by violence but concerted, directed civic action and movement. We the people should immediately call those responsible out, they live amongst us,they are not spirits. I am sure someone out there knows who did this devilish act, may be more that are still in planning stages. We cannot allow our State to be held hostage by thugs and Fools.
So how did Okon Uwa die? Was he assassinated ? Did he slumb from stampede by who? These are the season of foolishness and 0s... It's the return of the dragons.
This Dragon must be Caged Now.
